As a little girl spending summers in France, I remember my aunties and grandma lubricating this area thoroughly with sweet smelling oils before heading out to bask in the sun. A taut, firm lusciously glowing décolleté was coveted as a sign of health and youth.

In this final installment of three winter skin strategies, we propose an assessment of your skin care routine. And it’s more than just your face and neck – you’ll want even your toes to glow! In December, Founder Melissa shared her top picks for winter skin care (see her blog). But this month, we want to go a little deeper. From cleansing to serums and balms, there are small adjustments to your skin care routine that can pack a glowing punch all season long.
In this second of three winter skin strategies, we tackle an often-overlooked component: body work and massage therapy. While massage therapy is important for relieving certain stresses, muscle aches, nerve pain, and general relaxation throughout the year, stepping up your routine in the winter months will help you achieve healthier, younger skin during the driest of months.
Wintertime. If you’re like us, just the word conjures up the sense of dryness, dehydration and dullness. But it’s time to rethink your routine and maintain – or bring back – your glow. Making winter adjustments to your nutrition, body work and skin care routines are just the trick to glowing skin (and of course the pampering might help banish winter blues!). In this three-part blog, we break down three strategies that will make a huge impact on your skin (and mental) health this season.
Winter is an important time to take a close look at our home skincare rituals and make some adjustments. Cold weather combined with indoor heating systems can dry out our skin and when it’s cold we tend to drink less water. I keep my daily homecare ritual simple with a gentle but effective cleanser and mild exfoliation to prepare my skin for the deep hydration I need and almost always find in a face oil. And I make sure to hydrate inside and out, drinking lots of water and herbal (and yes, some caffeinated) teas all day long.

International Orange Founder Melissa Ferst and IO estheticians share their top product recommendations to keep skin hydrated, exfoliated and radiant this winter. Our skin changes dramatically from season to season. Winter is an important time take a close look at our home skincare rituals. Bay Area dry weather can parch your skin, dulling your summer glow. Recapture that glow with a new seasonal routine of exfoliation, cleansing, massage and deep moisture.
At IO, we are practiced in the art of prevention. While there's no way to entirely avoid environmental aggressors, there are ways to optimize the environment of your own skin, giving it a fighting chance against free radical attacks.
The goal of every sun goddess is to bronze, not burn, during the bright days of summer. And of course, we hope that our sun worship doesn’t leave any lasting marks on our skin. Will a safe non-nano zinc oxide SPF do the trick? It’s definitely a start, but skin experts at International Orange say it’s not enough, especially as the sun’s rays are striking hotter these days.
